Arca Arcade reimagines the Te Arawa love story of Hinemoa and Tūtānekai as a classic 1980s style arcade game inspired by the structure of the 1981 arcade classic Frogger. Players guide the female protagonist Hinemoa through her pā (Māori village) and across Lake Rotorua, avoiding hazards as she journeys to the hot pools on Mokoia Island, where she awaits reunion with her lover. Along the way, players collect musical notes from Tūtānekai’s kōauau (bone flute) for extra points. Each level is completed once all five hot pools are filled.
